Magnificat

Here's one of my original sketches

Acrylic on gessoed Birch Wood panel

3 ft x 3 ft x 1.625 in

The painting itself is finished, but I planned to add one more thing to the piece...

I wanted to paint the words of "The Magnificat", in Latin, in gold paint, around the edges of the panel.

It took me quite a while to get the sizing and spacing correct so that the words would wrap around all four sides completely without any gaps.

Then I outlined the lettering around each side, and here's the first side outlined...

And finally, here's the gold lettering for that same side, as shown on the completed piece, hanging on a wall.
